Studying the Moon Phases

Mrs. Alexis Gavina's ABC Astronauts class experienced a science lab and studied the 28-day moon phase cycle using Oreos. These cookies proved the perfect way to match a Moon phase name with a Moon phase appearance.  Students learned all the phases from the new Moon to the full Moon to the waning crescent Moon.  These littles learned that the Moon has no light of its own but that the moonlight is sunlight bouncing off the Moon's surface.  What a memorable lesson, and yummy too!
